Having played Yugioh, Vanguard and Magic, I have to agree with Chris. Especially the mana system; it's the main factor about MtG's success, IMO.

Magic is probably the best of the major TCG's around. Partly to do with the way it's been designed (So resource system, heavy focused around creativity in deck building ect), and the lovely focus on lore and background in it, but also the fact that the designers actually pay a lot of attention to the game and fix things as it goes on to prevent any one style from dominating heavily, and keep things balanced

That's what I've observed at the very least. From the brief time I've seen played the game at least.


Physics is extremely fun. Except for Electricity... We don't talk about electricity anymore.

To add to why MTG is awesome, it's also the game where winning feels the most rewarding sheerly because of the depth of strategy and the abundance of intense games and complex scenarios.

Yeah I would put Magic at the number one, with vanguard as a second.

It would be nice to have another person around for EDH games

So...it is finally happening. I am getting finish two playsets of Fetchlands by the time of my birthday!!! I am really excited for this because I can finally play other decks at my LGS on MNM instead of Proxy Play!!

Which is a shame, I don't play EDH or Legacy nearly enough, even if I do my best to not play a real game of magic in the latter.

Listening to Emiya on loop whilst doing Linear Algebra, really makes it seem more interesting than it is... Maybe I should try it with Bloody Stream next~

Well I just had a sudden reminder of how much luck can impact a game.

Got my U/R opponent down to no cards in hand in Theros sealed. For what it's worth my pool's mediocre and I managed to build both a U/W deck and a G/B deck to smokescreen into - He has just the nut U/R deck, with multiple Lightning Strikes, Voyages Ends and Griptides.

So his sequence of draws went like this: Triton Fortune Hunter -> I land Arbor Colossus (Coincidentally, I've had this in every THS sealed event I've done online) -> Ordeal of Thassa onto the Hunter -> I swing with Arbor Colossus, he blocks with Mnemonic Wall and Triton Tactics it and the Hunter. I go monstrous -> He Voyages Ends my Colossus off the Hunter's draw trigger -> I get smashed for some damages and land Colossus again. He's topdecked a Griptide and Griptides it in my end phase. I get slammed again. -> I land Colossus once more. EOT he's ripped Voyage's End. -> Finally of Ordeal of Thassa's trigger he hits Lightning Strike for lethal.

Luck is so ridiculous in Vanguard sometimes. I played a someone and he literally, 9/10 times would get a bloody trigger in his drive checks. Oh? And if it wasn't a trigger, a bloody Null.
