It would make sense if you saw a Prothean. And then polar bears excelled at two things over time, selling soft drinks and killing 8-year olds. So when the Pigtus revived themselves from Dino-DNA they discovered the polar bear off-spring on T.V. Fueled by insurmountable rage the process of evolution accelerated at an unprecedented rate to get them to the NOrth Pole to kill off their traitor sons. This evolution caused them to like a Pokemon, grow wings. Not used to their new wings they flew at Mach 214 bursting them into flames in mid-air causing the ice caps to start melting. Yes, pigs can fly.
