    'Ponification' has been around way before MLP;FiM, guise. The show just helped to popularize it.
    And Rule 34-2/A/whatever, is a running gag. While not official, it is hilarious because of how true it is.

    Some of us just find the art style, comedic style, characters, etc. really nice and refreshing.

    I honestly didn't quite get the attraction to the show at first either. I then decided to try out an episode or two and the rest is history. :3
