I mean, if your shop's preparing for the meta, then they'd more than likely be playing Ultimate Price against MBD instead of Doom Blade, because wow.

UW really needs a splashable color, so Esper/America are the most decent lists for that. I'm trying stuff with UWr and I'm going to probably be bringing it to a standard tournament this Monday, so I'll let you know how it goes.

It seems like a nice deck, You've got your Win cons and plenty of removal to deal with threats.

Probably missing something, but is 2 Divination/2 Read the Bones/2 Opportunity a particularly meaningful split?

Simple maths, really. 2 Opportunity is all you can really run because it doesn't have the obscene lifegain that Rev does to pull you back into a game.

Losing a Rev to me constitutes two Divination-esque spells.

I have a hard-on for foil DKA Divinations, so I have to include two of those. Read the Bones is something I think is very powerful but the life loss means I can only play 2, really.

I actually ended up running a UWR control list at the win-a-box very akin to Shaheen Soorani's list from the SCG Invi this weekend. I'll update this later with what I'm going to try and build.

I'm curious what has you playing Counterflux over Dissolve.

No reason to not play the better spell for the control matchup. Dissolve's Scry is very minimal, and winning any counter war ever is far more appealing.

That's what I figured. I was thinking about running it myself, but mana symbols have always made me a bit unsure.

That said, when I play UWr, I've never really been without a red source, so maybe it's something I should try.

Obviously this is base U/R so the mana symbols are quite a bit easier to achieve. After playing UWR yesterday, I didn't have an issue in any of my matches casting Counterflux off of 14 red sources and 16 blue sources.

Updated OP with current list I'm working with.

    Of note:

-Mnemonic Wall is more of a cute inclusion, since it's one of my favourite cards in standard and it has some sweet utility. And I'm a huge fan of 0/4s in general.
-Gone down to 1 Ashiok from all my previous builds. It's started performing a little worse with time but still feel one is fine to mise wins.
-Thoughtseize is one of the best cards in standard.
-Anger of the Gods is either fantastic or awful in a matchup, never decent.
-Removal suite tailored for Mono-X decks and GW Hexproof since that's seemingly a thing and I hate dying to Witchstalkers.
-Cut Divinations from the draw engine. Too many draw spells not enough action, previously. 2 RtD, 4 Jace, 2 Opportunity is plenty anyway, especially with other cards like Anger of the Gods, Thoughtseize and Rakdos's Return to pull ahead anyway.
-Dissolve is nicer for the Scry 1 in the main. I go back and forth between it and Counterflux, but for now I'm sticking with Dissolve with Esper and UW receding in play.
-I officially love these colours even more for having such little dead removal vs control.
-Mana base is definitely subject to change. 16/14/14 (U/B/R) should be fine, but hitting turn 3 Anger is currently more inconsistent than I'd like.
