    [HUB] Hub | Hub Block [117/272] F4h4aw

    Release

    Set Name: Hub
    Release Date: Unknown
    Mechanics:  To be confirmed.
Keywords/Ability words: Various, returning from Return to Ravnica, Innistrad and Kamigawa blocks.
    Flavour: "When planes collide."
    Size: 272 (117 Common, 66 Uncommon, 59 Rare, 15 Mythic, 15 Basic Lands)
    Expansion Code: HUB
Development Codename: "Key", of "Key, Lime, Pie"

    Flavour

Planes move in relation to each other. Disruptions in the multiverse — the Sundering, the Conflux, the Great Destruction, amongst many others — inevitably cause small shifts in these movements. As these shifts build up upon each other, the movement of various planes dangerously threaten to pitch into each others' drifts.
[HUB] Hub | Hub Block [117/272] 211qu5l Several planes have now fallen to such a fate. Soon after the events of Return to Ravnica, Kamigawa began to collide with Innistrad and Ravnica, in a practically inexorable process. The aftermath has left a so-called 'hyperplane'; each of the three planes shift in and out of existence with each other, although firmly connected. Without warning, lifeforms are being dragged from their native planes, into either of the other two within the hyperplane, sometimes for seconds, sometimes permanently.
[HUB] Hub | Hub Block [117/272] 211qu5l The event threatens to cause outright chaos on each plane, as new creatures flood out from beyond any comprehensible space. Various individuals, planeswalkers and non-planeswalkers alike, have been launched into action. While some are trying to fight and cope with the chaos, others are working in the background, trying to find a way to reverse the process altogether.

omg omg omg. This should be a real thing.

Why haven't you brought back Sweep? It had potential to be something interesting.

It was a super feel-bad mechanic, in my opinion. I might reference the mechanic in a few cases, maybe pop it into a few cards, but I won't return it as an ability word. Same thing with Channel: it won't appear, but it will be referenced (I've got two potential designs for Channel-themed Bloodrush cards I'm working on).

    Thanks, Jordan C:

Orochi Ledgerunner - Was actually originally 5G. I might actually push this down to 3G though, in light of re-looking at Sewer Shambler and co.

Wolf Run Hunter - 1/2 because it doubles when it becomes a werewolf. Looks cooler. Also, forcing blocks is a really strong combat ability, so I figured I'd just balance it out with the day side.

Note that this exists in a completely isolated environment, so it won't ever exist in conjunction with Moment's Peace. Also Turbofog is a bad deck, because I don't plan on supporting the deck in the Limited or Standard format for the set. Fogs are bad in Limited anyway.

I love the thorwbacks to some old cards, and new utility cards using the Ravnica mechanics. Very well done.

I'm also liking the power level. Not too pushed, not too low.

Throwbacks are all the deal this set.

Changed Orochi Ledgerunner's Scavenge to 3G, based on how cheap Sewer Shambler's is.

I find your approach with this set more interesting than the actually execution. The idea is very well thought out and well balanced as well. Great job!

Ledgerunner's Scavenge is back up to 4G, by the way. I'm very indecisive.

Time Staunch and Havengul Lurker seem overcosted to me. The overload could easily be 4U, and the Ninjutsu 1U.

I like the Occultist reprint here, and the hexproof detainer.

The Dimir Limited archetype is full of unblockable creatures. Ninjutsu 1U would be really, really easy to trigger turn 2 with some of the cards I plan on adding. Also makes soft locks if you stick an enchantment that gives it trample, flying, intimidate or unblockability. As early as turn 3, that's silly. From the way Black's shaping up for me, it's a good pick as it is.

    I don't know whether I want a 4U Sleep with a mini-mode at Common. I'm happy with it at 5U.
