The one thing I'll say about Vermillion Thunderbolt is that it does drop some insane pressure on an opposing player depending on its timing, and if the player's using something like Gold/Royal Paladins or other RG-heavy clans, it's going to hurt their hand advantage regardless of whether they protect their Vanguard. I've always felt it's more of a card to help you set up for Final Turn with Thunder Break or another Narukami.

11ks are pretty important in ECG right now, so that's contributed to a fair chunk of its popularity. That's not to say it deserves the hype it gets, because I still think Overlord is the superior Dragon when comparing counterparts. Still, it hits 21k with Photon Bomber, and that's a key number right now when handling other 11k Vanguards.
