Re: Striking Sliver
Meh, I'll just say it in one of the threads. I'm never that happy seeing an archetype basically made of overextending really mediocre cards into wrath effects. Slivers really don't do anything particularly interesting outside of their combos in eternal formats, which I'll give them are pretty exciting. These types of effects... yeah these aren't exciting.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I find these very exciting
I just hope we get enough good ones to at least be good enough for FNM.

Re: Striking Sliver
Well if they bring back Cycling in M14 (which I seriously hope they do) there's a really sweet choice for reprints that'd definitely make them a deck to consider. The problem they have is just that the wrath of choice is uncounterable. Being in Red and White means they do have Boros Charm though, so maybe I'm being a bit too hyperbolic on how bad they'll be.

Cycling would be an awesome mechanic to bring back for everyone.

Re: Striking Sliver
I don't think that they're making new slivers to impact the standard. You've got to consider that Slivers are one of the most loved tribals in Magics, but at the same time they never impacted any format beside Standard once with Counterslivers.
They're just trying to appeal the kitchen table public.

Jesus, my campus hates Slivers.
Based on what I recall, we last got Slivers when shocks were in the format (Ravnica-Time Spiral), so I wouldn't be surprised if Theros gave us some kind of silly nonsense like cycling. There's so many ways WotC could take M14 and the new block because of the mana base.

I am more interested in Cycling being in M14 because of it being the 20th Anniversary set. I am surprised by slivers more so, but Wizards does want to make people excited, so I am not really defiant as to how they are doing it. Slivers are one of the most loved tribals in MtG. Even if one spot/area hates them, doesn't mean the world will.

Re: Striking Sliver
So on the topic of cycling even though it's just a vague possibility right now, would I be being too greedy if I wanted a Doom Blade with "2B, cycle: drain target opponent for 1"?

A cycling trigger should preferably be related to the actual effect.
I could imagine a Last Kiss with half a Last Kiss attached to the cycling.
