    Okay, so I've been bored and wanted something that would help to boost my activity here on Cardgame Coalition. After some thinking, I realized POKEMON. I've been hooked on the Competitive Pokemon Battling scene for a while now, so I figured I would bring that here.

    Rules
    1. Site rules apply here.
    2. While Competitive Battling is preferred here, Casual Talk and Talk about ingame is allowed as well.
    3. Tournaments will take place on Pokemon Showdown unless otherwise said. Why Showdown? Because it's currently Smogon's simulator of choice and it is amazing.

    Do you know about Competitive Battling currently or learning? Do you even care?: I know a lot of competitive theory, and can put it into practice, but I don't play anymore. I might maybe play one game every couple of months at best. I'm really just joining to pitch in on conversation, since I know my competitive theory pretty well, just stupidly out of whatever the Gen 5 meta is right now. If it means anything, I used to be able to match up to the best back when I did play, and was on the Shoddy and PO leaderboards pretty frequently.

    I understand. Gen 5 brought a lot of changes to the meta, but it's fairly easy to catch up on. For the most part at least.

    Yeah, just I quit after like 2/3 months after B/W was released in Japan (I've tried quite a few times to get back into the game, but they've just never lasted), and I know nothing about what BW2 have done to change the game more.

    To be frank, I'm not really fussed about catching up anyway, I still have a good grasp on general playstyles and what good synergy is, just that some of the pokemon have changed.

    Most of the general playstyle is the same. Entry Hazards everywhere, Spinblockers are better then ever, Weather Teams are still scary, all that jazz.

    Only difference is the viable Pokemon, which isn't that big a difference since a lot of the old ones are still viable.

    I think all B/W2 has done so far is made the new Gen 5 forms usable and changed some moves allowed. I haven't really tested anything for it yet, other then that fact that I do know that Black Kyurem is broken, even in Ubers.

    It would be a shame to see this die so soon.

    Since I'm an unoriginal bastard, I say a Monotype tourney or multitier tournament would be interesting. Surely someone else has a better idea though.

Then I got sick of playing by tiers and just started theory-teaming in general. I bounce in and out of actually paying attention to places like Smogon, so it's not like I care particularly. Rules will be rules, but even so, it's not like I'm going to hate on you for using Salamence or Garchomp or anything.

    On that note, I'd kill to start up some theory-building again. I'm about to have a whole lot of free time on my hands this weekend, so I figured I'd do some tests while everyone else is busy with B/W 2.

    Do you know about Competitive Battling currently or learning? Do you even care?: I know a fair bit of the theory involved and I can breed pretty damn well. My only problem is predicting in what thing my opponent will do, which is probably a big part of the metagame. Other than that, I'd say I'm fairly competent.
