    Pokémon 280px-English_Pok%C3%A9mon_logo.svg

Pokémon is a series of games developed by Game Freak and Creatures Inc. and published by Nintendo as part of the Pokémon media franchise. First released in 1996 in Japan for the Game Boy, the main series of role-playing video games (RPG) has continued on each generation of Nintendo's handhelds. Games are commonly released in pairs—each with slight variations—and then an enhanced remake of the games is released a few years from the original release. While the main series consists of role-playing games, spinoffs encompass other genres such as action role-playing, puzzle, and digital pet games. It is one of the best selling video game franchises worldwide.

This is just a general topic discussing my favourite turn based RPG of all time. And even discuss certain subjects like Breeding and Contests or even just gloat about our all time favourite Pokémon.

Also I guess we could use this thread to share friend codes and make trades and stuff.

Ever since I got Pokemon Red when I was aound 10 I have had the same Charizard with me all the way to Platinum. It's made every game I've played too easy because lats face it even if he goes to sleep have the time a LV 100 pokemon kills everthing challenging.

Not a bad game franchise at all, just... Once you beat the plot, it really loses the point unless you're a completionist. There's the Elite 4, the extra stuff like the Frontiers, etc. I can't get into any of that though. I can't focus on getting a bunch of Pokemon to Level 100 either.

I like their storylines, but they never leave an everlasting impact.

Ive been doing a Emerald Re-run and literally try and complete everything. Even the gruesome Battle Frontier. May the gods of battle give me their favour.

The only good game with a definitely good story was Black and White. Until there's translations for B/W2, it will remain so.

The franchise can go f*** itself, if only because there's almost little-to-nothing to do after you catch the remaining Legendary Pokemon.

There's always Nuzlocke and Competitive Play.
I've heard that both ruin the fun experience of Pokemon Games though.

In my opinion Emerald is the best, great sprites, the surf speed, story and of course the Battle Frontier and Contests. Then again, I have yet to play Black/White But oh snap the trailers for B/W2 look too good.

Oh dear lord, I tried doing an Emerald Nuzlocke. Got to Wattson with a seriously underleveled team. It wasn't pretty.

I always liked pokemon colosseum. It seemed darker than most entries in the series. I think it would be perfect if you could catch and train your own pokemon though.

Pokemon Colosseum was quite literally my favorite Pokemon Game, because imo, it gave essentially everything that should've been in Pokemon. Good Pokemon, a very nice plot, creative mechanics (The HERO steals Pokemon!) like Snag Balls and Shadow Pokemon.

Why can't we have more games like that? f*** B/W2, even if it does look amazing, let's get another story on Wes.

I find the third person RPG-style perspective a bit odd for Pokemon. Not to say they haven't done it before. It's still weird. Other than that it's like all handheld Pokemon game to date, but in 3D. Which was a highly anticipated move. My only real problem is the names for the starters suck, IMO.

But let's talk about what's really important. GAME FREAK RAN OUT OF COLORS FOR POKEMON GAME NAMES! They're down to variables.

Analysis was already done on the new names. They're reflecting the change to the 3DS, and are based on different axes in dimensional existence.

Also, what are you on, the starters look /great/.

Personally, I don't like the look of the fire one all that much.
The name "Froakie" for water is hilarious though.

This is sort of basically putting Stadium Graphics into a handheld.

Which everyone wanted to begin with.

Everyone wants Fennekin because it's a fire fox, yet they forget that the Vulpix line exists, therefore making the concept redundant.

    I'm rolling Chespin, though, so I don't care. <3

I cant decide which one I'm doing.

Guess I'll go Fennekin for X and Chespin for Y.

Which reminds me. X or Y, based on the cover legendaries?

I'm actually going to roll Y. As much as I like Miyazaki, that bird calls to me, mang.

I'm assuming they'll go back to the cover chain for Legendaries. X will probably hold Y, and Y will probably hold X.

I'll just wait for Z to get released.
Otherwise I'll go for the flying one, X. I think. I... think Y is the Justice Sword thing.

I'm gonna try to get Y. And Froakie due to the act that I generally get the Water type and I want to be consistent.

Dear God, I expected I'd find better here than this, but here we go again.

No. It's not redundant. Being a Fennec, it's completely different from a Kitsune -> Kyuubi. It's a desert fox.

No one forgot Vulpix existed, Fennec is just cute and seems to be a psychic type at some point. That's why people want it.

Saying Fennekin is redundant is like saying Zorua line is redundant because Eevee and Vulpix exist. Or is Flareon redundant because it's a fire fox, too?
