so basically when duke is not being sacky its decent but not as good as other decks when they aren't being sacky, such as the other gold paladin variants, but when they sack they can't really lose. In a tournament scenario a lot of duke players won't sack or just do meh so they get flushed by the other competing decks, but probability would have it that the more duke players the higher chance one of them will consistently sack their games. Those individuals who are part of the lucky population end up winning.
This pattern was very noticeable in the Chaos Dragon format, where almost everyone played chaos dragons, but they would be smashed pretty easily by the other decks, except for the people who were sacky enough to open bls/fufu/amoxing cards consistently, who would be guaranteed a spot in the top. Duke and Chaos Dragon do get some merit though, since unlike other decks that are guaranteed to win if they sack, like FTKs, they can still play without being sacky, just not as effectively as others, and the conditions for them to sack aren't incredibly difficult.
tl;I'm confusing myself:
the deck is stable, but not as stable as other decks. They sack harder though, and its not hard to sack, so if they sack they win.
par Duke < par meta
sacking Duke > sacking meta
