Because it has one of the most consistent fast clocks in the format, from my experience.
Spike Jester is ridiculously good and Crimson Muckwader is surprisingly powerful. These two combined with Exava, Scrivener, Gravecrawler and Messenger give the deck the long game prowess that Zombies have always had over other aggro decks and multiplies it.
The sideboard is mostly half-assed but contains specific cards for specific matchups. It also helps that in general control is completely non-effective against the deck so siding is minimal if not nil.
