With thragtusk, sphinx, and that guy who doubles life gain. This has to be halfway decent in standard.

It's a win moar card in a format where winmoar isn't something produced at that CMC, necessarily.
It trades with Thragtusk, which I think devalues it just for the moment, even if you very nearly net gain what they just acquired via Thraggy. Post-M13, this card becomes way better, I assure you.
Right now, though...we'll see. I guess Esper has their own kind-of-Thragtusk now.

Which is why I made the Thragtusk comparison.
Card's really good for Esper and B/W variants as a whole. It's not perfect---honestly, the only card that really fits that description is Thraggy---but it's quite decent.
