If you overextend with Omnar, you should have enough advantage from that alone to come back a board wipe or two.

You're doing it wrong if you "run out of dudes".
For example, the two Eldrazi titans exist. They give you back EVERYTHING, and with cards like Momentous Fall, you can trigger them at will. Jin-Gitaxeas will let you draw into your creatures easily, and Survival + Fauna Shaman make searching a breeze. If you build the deck right, then the problem of getting board wiped without a comeback play, or "running out of dudes" will be left up to luck as anything else in this game will be.
