Welcome to my brew competition. Each time I host the competition, I'll choose a different theme for you to all make a deck on. I am here to promote semi-competitive to competitive originality!
How To
If you want to submit a deck, just post a deck in the Decks section with [Brew] somewhere in the title. And you're done!
This time, the theme is:
Tokens!
Take that as you will. As long as you can justify how your deck involves tokens, you're safe. Any format; any cards.
You have 'till next Sunday to get those decks in if you want to participate!

Taylor (Standard Séance): The winning deck, no doubt. I personally think that it looks surprisingly competitive and manages to use pretty much most of the best cards in the format. The simple Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage + Séance combo that overreaches across the deck is used in the G/B/W colors, which are commonplace for tokens. Interesting one-ofs of Disciple of Bolas and Trostani are welcomed. I can't actually think of many changes for the deck. For the sake of it, I might even try out a one-of of Parallel Lives. Speeds up the clock.

Volt (Standard Selesnya - Semi-Tribal Aggro): I think it's very well done and has clear concept and goal. Unfortunately, it suffers from a few issues. Without mana dorks, it's going to be very difficult to achieve that double WW of Precinct Captain and the 1GG of Champion of Lambholt quickly. That's essential because of how aggro needs to work. The Parallel Lives tech is a fun one, and the deck certainly has enough tokens to work with. One of my personal qualms is that your Champion of the Parish won't grow fast enough. There's not enough Human one- and two-drops in the deck to satisfy it. Precinct Captain should always be ran with Rancor, by the way!

Alex_S (IRL Modern Zombies/Mill): I think it's definitely a fun concept to expand on. It's probably difficult to judge because it's IRL but I can give improvements. I think expanding on budget options rather than using tons of one-ofs will be more effective. Tome Scour is U for a 5 card mill, which I think is one of the best budget options in Modern (a playset is about $0.12). Some other things like perhaps some budget Flashback options would be fun. Overall, a good IRL attempt.

Rodrigo (Modern Orzhov Soul Sisters): Well, it's a tried and tested combination. Coming in at second place, this was a near flawless attempt. A rather solid set of Blood Artists, Dark Confidants and Soul Wardens keeps it firmly rooted in aggro. Perhaps my only worry is that extremely volatile 4-of of Spectral Procession! That may end out rather strangely with Dark Confidant.

Dae Breaker (Modern Orzhov Tokens): Well, here is another variant of Orzhov Tokens in Modern. This deck takes a mostly different approach using options such as Teysa and Tidehollow Sculler for a marginally slower but more powerful approach. Using finishers like Hero of Bladehold holds the deck together. Obviously, the backbone of the deck lies in the suite of other spells like Bitterblossom and Thoughtseize etc. It's a pretty potent deck and well crafted. I'd fix the mana base to using Isolated Chapel personally. The Tenth Edition painlands are rather out-of-place in a deck that already burns itself far too quickly using Bitterblossom and Thoughtseize, and also fetch and shocklands.

HSektor (Legacy Goblinball): Well, I was initially confused what format it was, but because it's casual, I'll take a pass. I am heavily tempted to turn this into Storm (*ahem* *empty the warrens* *ahem*) but nah. I feel Guttersnipe is out of place when you could potentially just add more sorceries/instants in that place. Not enough abuse of free blue stuff, in my opinion. 26 lands is a little too high, for my liking. For EpEx, a lower count of lands and more rituals seems much better. Once again, cyclers and cantrips can help.
https://cardgamecoalition.forumotion.com/t2249-brew-t2-junk-tokens
Klavier Gavin (Standard Junk Tokens): I really like playing Junk Tokens. A personal favourite deck of mine. I've always preferred playing the deck with stuff like Garruk and Sorin. Sorin is by far one of the most powerful cards in the deck. Lifelink is a silly tool. A good landbase and well made card proportions. Vitu-Ghazi at 4 seems a tiny bit overloaded when you're only really ever populating small tokens. Same with Wayfaring Temple. I'm sure Call of the Conclave would be amazing here too.
https://cardgamecoalition.forumotion.com/t2270-brew-with-the-pack-rats
-Griselbrand- (Standard Pack Rats): YAY RAT TRIBAL. An interesting concept with plenty of potential. Disciple of Bolas becomes an explosive bomb to draw through your deck with Ravenous Rats. Rootborn Defenses was a seriously intuitive tech here. Both saving most of your vulnerable rats and simultaneously adding tons and tons of power to your team of rats. It's got a consistent game with enough stuff to sink mana into. Lingering Souls was good, and the playset of Duress helps against that weak match-up of control (that tends to have a trillion sweepers and also Detention Sphere).
https://cardgamecoalition.forumotion.com/t2263-brew-barely-bant-modern
Kira (Modern Bant Tokens): It's a pretty solid concept. Abuse of Restoration Angel looks fun here. Not sure on that playset of Trostani though. The mana's pretty intense when you have no mana dorks and being Legendary means a lot of dead draws. Instead of Glorious Charge, I'd just use an anthem (either Intangible Virtue or Honor of the Pure). Druid's Deliverance is one of the clever cards in here that really was a great choice; same with Rootborn Defenses. I'd personally use Elspeth Knight-Errant over Tirel. Consider a finisher like Odric?
