Actually, this isn't awful, since there's Murder, Victim of Night, etc. for multicolored targets. This is basically the replacement for Go for the Throat.
It's just simply not as versatile. But then again, artifact removal's going to be rocking back on its heels this format because of Scars cycling out.

Not quite a new GftT. GftT hit literally everything Black wanted it to. The only common-place creatures it didn't kill were things you didn't want to kill anyway (Wurmcoil, Solemn) or something that was only as good as what they already had (Phyrexian Metamorph) where you can kill what they want to copy before it resolves so they had to copy something else.
RTR seems to be making the best cards Gold cards, so this becomes significantly worse.

Which is why it's better in Modern and Legacy. Obviously not amazing in Standard, but it's decent.
