    Mirror Force Empty Mirror Force

Post by Master Hyperion Mon Aug 20, 2012 10:55 am

I'm pretty sure everybody knows what it does, but Konami puts it at 2.

Mirror Force has always been neglected alot past formats, since being limited makes it harder to top it and alot of decks still existed that were able to blow your opponent field up or can easily recycle their cards from their grave. But since Inzektors got wrecked badly and Chaos Dragons loses alot of power and moving to 2, it becomes much easier to use Mirror Force.

So, will it finally make an impact again?

I've tested it on a couple of decks and yes, it makes a huge difference.

I won't hesitate to put 2 of them on my deck now.

I always liked it back when I played...but since I know nothing about the current metagame I have no idea how well it is right now. I should start playing more.

People always try to compare this to D-Prison. They don't seem to realise that this hits a whole field, and you can run both.

Almost always prefer this over it, too. If you're playing anything that wants to control the board (so, anything) then it's a perfectly solid card choice and putting it to 2 was a horrible idea on Konami's part.

Mirror Force should've been left at 1, but that isn't going to stop me from using 2 in my deck from now on.

With the amount of control this will give certain decks, it's scary to consider even.

My guess is this was moved to 2 because people hardly run it.
    ....
Then again, it does seem like an idiotic list position for it.

This brings up another discussion; Starlight versus Huge Revolution is Over.

Personally, I'll be siding HR in every Deck now, if not main it. Being Warningable makes Starlight much more vulnerable, not to mention being slower.

Starlight still gets you Stardust. It's stupid not to play it over Thrio. Do you want actual mileage out of your cards, or just 1-for-1 everything? Starlight Road still forces them 2 cards (and 2000 life points) of investment, essentially. And that's if they prevent it. If they don't, it'll be forcing plenty more cards of investment because it's a Stardust Dragon.

Fair enough, though there is always the unexpected Dark-Hole-your-sangan-and-opponent's-monster, or the occasional Scrap Dragon.

I guess I should test both and see, because as outclassed as it may seem, there are situations where Starlight wouldn't help, few as they may be.

There's no user preference in Starlight vs Thrio. Bad players prefer Thrio, good players realise the benefits of Starlight make it infinitely better.

Starlights a long term investment, and requires some half decent thought to use, and probably has more uses to it due to the startdust it summons.

OT: Mirror force i always try and find a place for, becuase it punishes reckless players. Whilst its not as good as Torrential for doing this, with it at two now, it does set a slight mind game when they see the first one get played or destroyed.

However... it being at 2 I'm not massively happy with, but its probably a precaution. Or them trialing it out to see if it is balanced at 2. The issue though of if you can actually fit this in your deck still stands.
