I love the X spell. It's so versatile and it's a strictly better Gridlock. The scry is relevant, especially in draft/sealed.
Imagine making X = 5 and having Pain Seer and 1 or 2 of the uncommon token makers. Tap down their blockers, tap your inspired cards, untap them next turn, get their effects, and make an alpha strike that could result in your win, or that could put you in a strong position to win.
