    Oh it's an Enchantment Smile

I read it as a Sorrcery.

I read it as a 4 mana enchantment that does nothing unless you're winning.

So, a decent limited card and useless elsewhere. The reason Wolf was played is because it was a threat, and RDW lacked better cards, and now RDW has better cards without even needing to splash...

The cards overall are really cool, though. I especially love the extort lord, just being able to add extort virtually infinite times to something sounds amazing. And of course, dat 7 toughness.

Gaze is a nice homage to Pernicious Deed. Far worse, but it's hard to be as good as a card that's still seeing play in Legacy. Far less of a rattle snake effect too.

Gleam of Battle makes Cathar's Crusade look like a constructed all-star by comparison, and Curse of Stalked Prey gave things a +1/+1 counter for doing damage, at 2 mana and common. It just seems so... ergh. I don't like the idea of paying 6 for basically "Put a +1/+1 creature on each creature you control." Again, requires you to be winning.

Blanket -1/-1 for fliers on Smog Elemental was sweet in sealed, but not so good in draft, but his little brother, in a slower format, sounds amazing.

I actually love the Sphinx's design.

Drown in Filth just looks too polar to be good anywhere.

Does nothing when it comes to play? Are you sure that giving "almost-unblockability" to every creature you control is nothing?

Are you sure that giving Experiment One with 2 counters on it, 2 Burning Tree Emissary, Flinthoof Boar and Ash Zealot Rancor'd an "almost-unblockability" is safe? Because that's the standard field of a Gruul Aggro deck "if he's winning".

I don't think that Gruul War Chant is super-duper broken or something, but is pretty possible for that to see play in GR/Naya Aggro decks. Be it pre-rotation or post-rotation.

Curse of Stalked Prey was rare, just saying.

On this batch, I have a few minor issues. Pontiff of Blight is really a gold card. The 7 toughness is a White trait. And an Orzhovian card that's granting stuff Extort is a community White card. It really should be 4WB.

And Gaze of Granite is really a XBGG card. Of the nonland permanents, Green can hit 2 of them, Black 1 of them. Two thirds Green, 1 third Black Surprised

Otherwise, I'm impressed with the design.

In constructed, War Chant is worse than Pyreheart Wolf. =/

I could've sworn it was a common... Huh. Always felt like a common to me.

I hate it how people wanted Teysa to be Pontiff. Being an extort lord makes absolutely no sense to Teysa IMO, since she prefers to act alone.

idek why people dislike the Pontiff being mono black.

It's like "How dare they make a card playable in more decks!?" It's certainly more a black ability than a white one, anyway.

It's not really to do with that. Of course it's better that it's playable in more decks, but it's clearly flavoured as a pontiff. The pontiffs are priests. Their ethos is white.

And as an enabler, the Enabler is for Orzhov. The ability is neither Black nor White. It is Orzhov, simple as.

To be honest, Extort always felt significantly more black to me than anything else. It's always been a part of black's colour pie, just never done in the way it is in extort. Corrupt, Tendrils of Agony, Consume Spirit and Drain Life are all perfect examples of the same thing. Naturally, the extort lord is corrupt, which feels very black. It's then forcing a much greater tithe on the opponent, which again feels more black. It's not like black can't have lord effects.

So yeah, that's why it feels fine in black to me.

It is really fine at mono black...it is a priest all you want but it is Still a ZOMBIE...and there are no white Zombies in MTG

Plus all the past "Zombie Cleric" in mtg have been mono black too
