    But Split Second is amazing. Snappy Chan gets screwed and it can't be countered.

    Nope, because without the need of paying mana, I can play it on my opponent's turn when I did a big play on my last turn and couldn't save up mana, in case they put something valuable on the Graveyard which can't wait until my next turn. Mainly against Reanimator decks that base themselves on the Faithless Looting + Emrakul + Goryo's Vengeance (mind you, this deck's very common, and some decks play like this too).
