My own take on David McDarby's list he played at the SCG Open at the weekend. I felt 4 Deed was excessive and there were a lot of hands that wanted Explorer for acceleration but had no way to get it, hence the addition of GSZs. GSZ also happens to work exceedingly well at finding my favourite Green creature to play in Legacy, in Eternal Witness, so that seemed like an easy enough addition since it synergises very nicely with the grindy nature of the deck.

This is actuallt a very interesting deck. But Legacy's huge amount of counterspells won't get in the way?

Large amount of soft countermagic, sure. The only common place hard counter is Force of Will. Counterbalance is pretty easy to play around a lot of the time, since Miracles isn't loaded with 3s, 4s and 7s.

Not to mention the discard is really good at fighting through counter magic, and Force of Will is absolutely horrendous in a game of attrition.

That said, this deck excels mostly against decks without counters, or with almost entirely soft counters like Daze and Spell Pierce. Less so against the latter than regular Nic Fit, but it fares better against Miracles due to the movement away from creatures and towards Planeswalkers.

Really, Legacy's counterspell suite is not suited for fighting against Veteran Explorer decks, period.
