It is highly possible that Detention Sphere needs to be mained in the format, which means that Blood Baron would likely be relegated to the side.

I am seriously loving the look of this deck, and Ashiok is going to be my new pet 'Walker of the format.

It certainly looks very solid. Should work out just fine

If you tested, how does Ashiok fare?

Haven't tested it yet, however I obviously wouldn't post a control deck without a lot of theory and goldfishing. I will say it now, that's it not going to be a good Planeswalker against control. That said, he's also not going to be a bad Planeswalker against control either, and depending on their creature density, may be good there too. The strength comes from being able to be cast on turn three after an Essence Scatter, Syncopate, Far or Omenspeaker. The fact that it immediately hits 5 loyalty is amazing given no deck can swing for 5 at that point outside of a total nut hand. The major benefit is, once he's played any creature for free, you start seriously saving on mana. He starts defending himself while ticking up 2 a turn, and you never have to spend mana on threats again.
