I think it looks pretty good, especialy since we have all kinds of undying creatures.

Sign in Blood exists.
In modern, there's the SiB 1B pseudo-clone and Phyrexian Arena too.

What Black deck are you playing where you have enough space to run all that, while having sac fodder for Reap and enough utility left in the deck?

Every Black deck (MBC, Black Market, and Zombies) uses Sign in Blood as the draw card (Zombies rarely even include it) generally because it's cheaper on you to spend 2 life than to spend a creature. Also hurts less to get countered, and can be used to ping for game.

Even when Gravecrawler exists for Zombies? That's pretty surprising, but I guess it makes sense. At least this is instant speed.

Needing that exact creature to make a card good is a bad thing, especially when it's more value for your mana so SiB

Re: Altar's Reap
SiB is still better over all. If you don't have a creature, this would just be a dead card.

Re: Altar's Reap
it's not bad when you have creatures (other than undying) who will proc effects off of creatures dying. (Havengul Vampire, ettc ettc) Still not the best idea to captilize on.

It's a specific card, but isn't really bad.
If you can net some pluses from it, why the hell not?

Lack of consistency, better variants, just takes up space.HSektor wrote:It's a specific card, but isn't really bad.

Well, let's say that I'm not talking about competitive builds. I'd mostly use it in budget/casual decks. In a competitive scenario, this card is obviously bad.

To be honest, I don't see how this isn't a terrible consideration for B/W tokens. Not Standard, of course, but as a more casual approach. Or any type of token deck that splashes Black in general.

Undying's the only deck I could see getting use out of this. And even then, it's after you swing.

I don't see how "Budget" becomes apparent, when SiB is common.

Re: Altar's Reap
Even then. Board wipes exist and undying is inconsistent with being undead. SiB is no mater what situation better.
