Dark Depths

I just felt like making a thread about this card because I get a chuckle out of it, considering how close I am to reviving the Zendikar land engine for a deck.

You thought the swarms of creature lands I had were bad? Try a 20/20 that has to get exiled/pelted with -1/-1 counters/forced to be a sacrifice to be eliminated. <3

I like how this is banned in Modern. Solely because of a random a** Zendikar vampire woman.

Zendikar showed how dangerous power creep was/could be. I have to give WotC credit for that, since Jace, the Mind Sculptor was a horrendously designed card.

...And now I'm going to build a deck around Dark Depths. Lovely~

You'd have to build it in Legacy though. In which it's a little awful.

Zendikar had very little power creep though. To be honest, Alara was much more broken (note Cascade and the insane amount of removal in it). It's just that Jace and Stoneforge was in Worldwake and completely ruining everyone's view of the block.

And Stoneforge wasn't even that good till Swords came in...

Swords and Batterskull.

Batterskull is the most broken equipment ever aside from Jitte and Skullclamp, IMO.

That's mainly why I didn't actually play during Shards/Zendikar, I just watched FNM at my card shop take place. The amount of synergy was ridiculous.

And yeah, I guess that somehow, somewhere within all of this, WotC forgot that Stoneforge Mystic existed and created the Swords. qq

To be fair WOTC creates set with Minimum a Year of anticipation so maybe they wouldn't know?

Who i'm kidding they have future league for that...XD
