Even if it did say "Ancient Gear" monster it'd still suck, which is a real shame.
And as far as Dupe targets go, the only good one we really have is Cyber Valley. Tuningware is for fags and JunkTrain isn't consistent enough.

I've seen someone who used it as a part of an engine for Neo Galaxy eyes.
Nukes his own geartown, pulls out Gadjilton dragon, summons this, special summon 2 with dupe. Galaxy Queens light into Neo Galaxy.
But, like most cards it is lacklusture. even if was any Ancient gear monster... its still luaghably situational. Aside from maybe Black Misting.

As said, even if it were Ancient Gear monster, it would be awful (especially as Ancient Gear Knight and Gadjiltron are the only worthwhile cards really).

It wouldn't make it worse, just not as good as one would expect.
(Mostly because Gear Beast and Golem couldn't be Summoned in that way, and their support just made easier Normal Summons)
