Welcome to the plane of Reyne! Reyne's many roads all lead to Harleia, a massive city complex ruled by the benevolent ruler, Emperor Fild. The plane is gifted with bountiful and rich mana, and is full of many spirits and diverse fauna and flora. Will you decide to learn from the powerful powers of the cities, or from the essence of the wilds?
- Reyne's Design Skeleton:
- Mechanics
Myriad (If one or more counters are placed on this creature, place twice as many counters on this creature instead.)
Myriad is a mechanic largely based off Doubling Season and the like. On Reyne, mana flourishes and in especially within the Venlan area. Many Black and Green creatures, mostly Venlan and Ecven natives, feature this mechanic.
Altruist (You may add this card to your hand from your graveyard by tapping a number of permanents equal to this card's converted mana cost. Altruist only as a sorcery.)
Altruist represents Harleia. In an empire of order, kindness and recovery is a common theme that Altruist embodies. It is mostly on White cards, and occasionally Green cards too.
Channel - , Discard ~: CARDEFFECT.
Channel is a mechanic here because of the abundance of spirits on Reyne. Many leave mana imprints which the wizards of Leode and various residents of Harleia harness often.
Themes
White: White embodies Harleia predominantly. It's made up of many human residents, and occasionally spirits (which White contains many of, from all areas of Reyne). The people of Harleia live in peace under Emperor Fild, and can take up their everyday life undisturbed.- Untapping: Untapping is a major white theme. As everybody helps each other to work at maximum efficiency, the order of White lends to its ability to mess around with tapping.
- Channel: As many spirits are placed in White, as well as Blue and Black, Channel becomes a very big part of White's philosophy. Channel in White generally represents passive abilities that affect your own creatures.
- +1/+1 counters: +1/+1 counters is an overwhelming theme on Reyne. In White, +1/+1 counters is a passive theme. Several cards spread +1/+1 counters as a secondary effect, and a small number can remove them at a small scale.
- Lifegain: Lifegain is already a staple white mechanic, but is showed more predominantly here, going into Common at a greater level also. White is generally the most supportive and orderly colour.
Blue: Blue is a greatly spread colour, embodying the mearlan of Reyne (native merfolk), humans (mostly wizards), and a great variety of elves and spirits. Elves and mearlan live in nearby areas, Venlan and the Drayl Seas respectively. They generally don't disturb each other if necessary. Many blue Spirits form in the Drayl Seas or around Eidolon Tower and its nearby areas (mainly Leode), as the spirits of the lost; drowned; or emotionally negative.- Tapping: Tapping is a Blue theme, in parallel to White's theme. It makes it a classic twist on Blue's 'does not untap' aura effects. Blue becomes a very big disruptive colour on Reyne.
- Channel: Like in White and Black, Channel is a Spirit-based mechanic. In Blue, Channel represents mischief, disruption and some other Blue virtues. Using various classic Blue staple effects, Channel turns creatures into multi-purpose utility spells. Most of them disrupt and prevent, in order to lock down games more, to do with Blue spirits' negative values.
- +1/+1 counters: Blue doesn't actually get many effects that give +1/+1 counters to creatures, but instead is the colour that fiddles with them. Many creatures get effects from having them, others can move them around, and others can remove them completely.
Black: Black embodies many values, but mostly the area of Ecven, a place otherwise known as Outer Venlan, as it does lie on the southern outskirts of Venlan. A giant amalgamation of swamp and dead forest, most things living there are either the foolish or the vicious. One of the only areas in which Emperor Fild's benevolent reign doesn't reach, nature becomes a cruel mistress and punishes all those who can't cope with its conditions.- 'Cannot block': Black is a very offensively-based colour, and 'cannot block' embodies this well. Black is also reckless, and largely based on nature's course.
- Channel: Channel is also present in Black. Black's Channel is strong, mostly mana-intensive, and represent destructive abilities. Black Spirits are mostly from Eidolon Tower and Ecven.
- +1/+1 counters: +1/+1 counters are present as a theme, but less so than Green and White.
- Myriad: Myriad is a Black theme, for similar reasons why Green has Myriad. To do with growth and progress. It's not a massive theme in Black, but still visibly present.
Red: Red is a strangely vague colour. It's mainly a mixture of staples and small creatures, since Red is not as prominent on the surface. Most red creatures come in the form of human warriors and kallin, imps that have lived on Reyne since records began.- Small, but mighty: The mysterious race of kallin on Reyne mystify many people. Acting as small, annoying and elusive firestarters, they can often raze villages to the ground if you're not wary.
- Burn: A classic red theme, which is magnified in many ways on Reyne. All sorts of red cards cause damage to pretty much everyone.
- +1/+1 counters: +1/+1 counters are a minor theme in Red. Sometimes, power of +1/+1 counters can be traded for various sorts of effects, like explosive burn. Otherwise, it's standard adding counters on.
Green: Green is the colour of the forest - Venlan Forest. Comprised of elves, and indigenous flora and fauna, Green is a diverse and magnificent colour. Overlooked by Harleia, the capital, it's not uncommon to see human explorers go through the forests too.- Altruist: Like White, Green shares some values and Altruist as a mechanic.
- Flying hate: Green, for some reason, has a distinct amount of flying destruction. Many flyers exist in Ecven, as jinxed and unlucky birds, and the elves and even creatures and plants of Venlan have learnt or evolved to get rid of them. Admittedly, as a result, many just skip Venlan to go straight to Harleia itself.
- +1/+1 counters: +1/+1 counters is a fundamentally Green mechanic. Based on growth and adaption, Green showcases various cards that can add +1/+1 counters to creatures.
- Myriad: Myriad is here in order to further convey the +1/+1 counter theme.
- Untapping: Untapping is a major white theme. As everybody helps each other to work at maximum efficiency, the order of White lends to its ability to mess around with tapping.
