    Irrational Fears.

    Post by Shard on Wed May 09, 2012 9:46 pm

    I have one where I think that things I think can be heard and read, or if I think bad things it would happen. Scares me quite a bit sometimes. Anyway, discuss strange fears and stuff.

    I have a fear of bees to the point where I've been having nightmares about them since I was little. I've never been stung, and I'm not allergic or anything.

    Not sure if that counts as irrational.

    Scared of fire and explosions. I didn't even had a traumatic experience with those things when I was a kid.

    This. And I've slept in a bee nest, as well as flat out pet wasps. They literally love me, but I'm terrified of them to the point where I've been caught shrieking.

    I have Entomophobia. A HUGE fear of insects. Literally, terrified. Even butterflies. They all scare me. I also have Arachnophobia.

    Also, I'm extremely paranoid. When there's no-one around me, I always feel like I'm being watched. Dx

    Arachnophobia and scared shitless of needles. So naturally I have to get priority flu vaccines every year. ;-;

    Less rational ones include failure, general paranoia especially when it involves people close to me and the ability of my own thoughts. So many times I've let my thoughts run un-checked and I've managed to scare myself half to death with what I have thought of.

    I have a strange fear of getting struck by lightning. It's just weird since I'm not scared of storms, just getting struck by lightning. It's to the point where I won't use anything that I think can electrocute me if I use it during a storm.

    Some of my other fears include a mild fear of heights (I call it a mild fear because I'm fine as long as I don't look down), cockroaches, and people I care about hating me, getting pissed at me, or dying. Oh, and falling in love due to a recent event in my life that I don't want to go into detail right now.

    Since my childhood I've been scared of clowns, dolls, crowded places, heights, closed rooms and balls being thrown at me in various sports. Like everyone, past traumatic experience.
    At school, I would always close my eyes and try to run when a teammate was about to send me the ball. In fact, I would run away from the ball whenever I saw it coming into my surroundings and this lead to people ignoring me during sports class.
    Needless to say that I was great at anything that involved running and dodging balls.
    As for crowds and closed rooms, I only ever take public transportation after 10 p.m. I usually walk everywhere because busses or trains tend to be crowded during the day.
    I almost did things to a person once at a carnival boot. That person was dressed up as Tiffany From the Child's Play movies and I started screaming and tearing at her hair, only to find out that she was wearing the most scariest wig in time. Trauma of my life.
