- Reasoning and Logic:
- Because the last G1 option of Revengers is either Dark Bond which requires a rework of your deck with two Forerunners or a shitty 10k/11k booster or even worse a cb1 +1 clone. And the only deck people are willing to play consistently without fail is Raging Form... I thought maybe a Lemonade was what Shadow Paladins in general would like for starters, it even encourages some to play Triple Dark Armor in Phantom Blaster decks, since they'd be able to easily reuse the Persona Blast, which effectively makes Phantom Blaster Overlord, y'know... not dead or half baked.
Duke is built to act like a Navalgazer for Shadow Paladins without going down the usual Critical +1 or extra power to self or another self-stander. Which is basically combining Vortimer's morals(fighting alongside his comrades and helping people) with the Shadow Paladin way(retiring units for power), so it merges into sacrificing others for the sake of others but not necessarily letting everyone die. The secondary effect is to encourage Shadow Paladins to actually run Stand Triggers to combo. He would kill his own booster and a booster behind one of the other front row units, then revive the booster behind the other rearguard, and a stand trigger allows a fourth column swing.
Chromejailer is literally another deck entirely and functions with the same "Persona" means of Raging Form, but does different things. It fits his old lore of indiscriminately finding everyone guilty of breaking the law by immediately "convicting" two units before they can even speak for themselves, and then instilling fear into the opposing vanguard. All while convicting two Shadow Paladins too. Just because the Revengers are only trying to stop the invaders doesn't mean he overlooks the stuff they did do in their pasts.
I actually can't truly say they feel balanced. Duke feels like he truly would work up the encouragement for Shadow players to play Stand triggers, but I can't say that for sure. Chromejailer seems nice enough, I think. And by my standards, Vortimer looks fine. I just did these off the top of my head from talking with a friend about the black chain forces joining the Revengers from Gold Paladins, and Vortimer would go with them.
