I thought someone else would've made this already. Since the forums are about all card games, Yugioh should probably get more attention anime-wise at least.

Main thread of discussion for the entire Yugioh Series.

I grew up on Yugioh and Yugioh GX. I caught a few episodes of 5d's before I "outgrew it" (in other words I stayed up so late and slept in so late that I never had a chance to watch anymore)

I have to say the Waking the Dragons arc was always my favoite second only to that virtual world filler involving Noah. Something about the whole Deckmaster idea intruige me.

I think every season has their merits, and really each one follows the same "unbeatable" hero story. The only time our main protagonist loses it's a major shock to us (As opposed to Aichi who we expected to lose more often than not in the first season Smile

You'd be surprised at how many people hate 5D's
and how many people like GX
and how Zexal is teh uber hax . _.

You should try to watch 5D's up to like, the end of Dark Signers. After that, there's only bits that are really good and the rest is mediocre.

I wasn't too keen on the Deck Master bit because it had the potential to be stupidly broken. It was a fun idea though, yeah. And the 4kids Dub of DM was the only one I can fully tolerate. Dan Green <3

Atem confirmed that he has bullshit hax powers.
Judai is stupid lucky to the point of blatant cheating.
    Yusei flat-out didn't lose onscreen.
    Yuma has Plot Armor.

Next Yugioh will have a Tetsu for the main protagonist.

    5Ds sucks.

idc if I'm a nostalgia fag, the original series was leagues better than the rest.

The problems with anything other than the first series is basically:

GX: Dumbass protag, way too lucky, POLYMERIZATION AND POT OF GREED TIMES INFINITY.
5Ds: Yusei never plays anything other than Junk Warrior until Episode like 17. That pretty much speaks for itself, it's beyond repetitive and the characters are hugely uninteresting.
Zexal: Not even gonna bother. Will point out however that it's the perfect example of plot devices ruining it.
The first series' plot devices were just so much fun to watch pan out, probably helped by the fact that the protagonists, while cliché, were always the ones you wanted to root for. Heck, Zexal makes it so that the first duel you already want Yuma's opponent to win.

I don't quite get this argument, especially when I line-faced at all the plot devices. How are they 'fun' in any way? >__>

And I'm not even sure where you're getting that point about wanting Yuma's opponent to win, especially when all they did at the beginning was show that Yuma's a hot-headed kid who thought that he could beat someone who's a /well-known/ champ-turned-bully in their city, for the sake of his friend. =/

We can't exactly say switching to random trump card Plot-Related monsters every episode would be any better. Season 2 of 5D's all the way until the end was terrible because it was Stardustfest. It was nice with episodes like Drill Warrior coming out as the card that saves the day, or even the earlier episodes when Nitro/Turbo got some screentime.

Wanted more Junk Destroyer and Road Warrior myself.

Season 2 of 5D's made me wonder where the hell Turbo Warrior was the whole time, since that was basically Yusei's out to the Machine Emperors' effects unless they pulled another card to annihilate it, which would be kinda hard/awkward since their Monsters are all Level 1-5 for the parts until ULTIMATE DIVINE MACHINE GOD decides to show up. .-.

Everyone said the exact same thing about Turbo Warrior vs the Machine Emperors. People argued that they could just be powered up to fight it, but Yusei can do the same with Turbo Warrior.

Shooting Star, as much as I absolutely adore it, wasn't necessary.

They're fun because for the most part (ignoring the Seal of Orichalcos arc) they would actually be feasible cards.

Exactly, he's a hot-headed moron. Why would you want that character to win?

    Feasible?

    *Looks at the God Slime*
*Looks at half the cards from the championships Kaiba held*
    *Looks at Duelist Kingdom's 'rules'*

*Looks back at every other series and their compilation of cards that did the exact same things, barring several things that got dat nerf for irl*

What. The feasible stuff has been around for ages at this point, so DM doesn't exactly have it better, considering they also BS'd on a lot of things. Considerably, even. Neutral

It's not that you want him to win, it's that you wonder how the kid managed to pick up a Duel Disk. And then you realize that despite his big talk, he's not exactly the kind of person he claims to be, but he does aspire to be the Dueling Champion. It's just something that eventually grows on your when you watch his growth as a Duelist (character-wise, not so much, since he's still a kid going through bullshit anyway).

I for one watch the shows to see the insane cards that they would never allow in real life. It's fun to see massivly over powered cards. It's probably why the Orichalcos was my favorite card in the anime.

And how was "Catapult turtle shoot the castle!" more fun than say...any othr plot cards weve ever gotten in the shows?

On a different point entirely I've decided to watch the last seasons of GX, the Dark Signers Arc of 5d's, and ...what arc would you guys say I watch to in Zexal? Or is it even in far enough for me to ask yet?

Yep and I cant wait for it! I just hope they dont nerf it too bad. Id like it to be playable at least. Not horriby overpowered but something that will let me have my fun.

I hope they dont just turn it into another Card of Sanctity.

Am I the only one who thinks Card of Sanctity was kind of balanced as it was? Since, it required thought to its use due to the opponent getting it to. And at 1 it probably wouldn't have been horrible. Plus, it would make some hand loops a lot worse. The former Wind-Up loop would die if you top decked that.

However, I fear the seal will be fairly average. An attack boost, probably a sealed Forest like protection effect. And then probably the two moster rows.

ZeXal's awful cause it's Starforce + KHR, 5D's was a messy TTGL knock off, GX was f****** awful though it had a few good characters, and the original was good.

I don't get why a sequel is needed though.

Probably because they noticed how they completely derailed from the original plot and need to get more Numbers printed aside from the Manga.

Shark's little sister is in it, and Yuma was talking about some "Rank Up" thing.
