My only reaction to this for EDH so far is "It's a 2/2 for 3 without Hexproof and doesn't attack for 6".

Very cool design. Just, I don't think it's worth to be a commander. More like a regular card in the deck.

There are plenty of commanders that have neither Hexproof nor they attack for 6....so what's your point?Jeleva wrote:My only reaction to this for EDH so far is "It's a 2/2 for 3 without Hexproof and doesn't attack for 6".

My point is that there's really no reason to use this as a commander in stead of Geist of Saint Traft. They have the same mana cost, the same stats, and they both want to get into the red zone.Capricorn El Cid wrote:There are plenty of commanders that have neither Hexproof nor they attack for 6....so what's your point?Jeleva wrote:My only reaction to this for EDH so far is "It's a 2/2 for 3 without Hexproof and doesn't attack for 6".

Oh no, it's not Geist. What a shame. >_>Jeleva wrote:My only reaction to this for EDH so far is "It's a 2/2 for 3 without Hexproof and doesn't attack for 6".
It has very good potential considering what's available this format for the time being. I'm just waiting for something relevant like passing hexproof onto enchantments or whatever that results in good bonuses for your side of the table.
And for what it's worth, being able to cast anything off the top is prospectively amazing.
EDIT: EDH, okay, no, you still play Geist as your commander for sure. But this card isn't comparable to Geist by any means, so I don't see why people are trying, even if they're the same CMC. They have completely different purposes.

I'm not saying Commander-wise. But as a creature, it's a loophole. You can SPEND mana as if it were any color. Meaning you're not adding it to your pool as a different color, just spending it as such. And it's not considered any specific color, so it won't convert to colorless.

Re: [THS] Daxos of Meletis
You do realize that this card and Geist are not even remotely close to play in the same way, and Geist isn't even the best 3 drop commander out there...so by that logic we shouldn't be even playing himJeleva wrote:My point is that there's really no reason to use this as a commander in stead of Geist of Saint Traft. Re: [THS] Daxos of Meletis
They don't play quite the same, I realise that.
They do, however share very, very similar tactics in how they want to work, which is getting into the red zone, which Geist just does better.
And Geist is the best 3 mana UW general... s:
