    Gay marriage

Post by HSektor on Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:44 pm

What is your opinion on gay marriage?

I think that gay marriage should be approved when it comes to civil marriage, but not religious marriage if that religion forbidden it. Also, most of the arguments I read/listen against gay marriage are related to religion.

I don't mind one way or another.

The only thing I don't like about it is ignorant people hating on it without any good arguments.

    It should be legal everywhere.

And while we're at it, discrimination against gays (and by extent, discrimination against everything) should be stopped.

But that's an ideal world. We live in the world where people believe a bearded man in a nightgown created everything and then proceeded to hate everything so we must worship him, or something like that.

    I'm all for it.

There is no logical reason as to why it shouldn't be allowed to happen, the religious arguments can technically be discounted, because if each religious book was followed word by word, then a whole lot of weirder stuff should be happening, such as the bible saying Wives must submit themselves to there husbands.

If everyone is a human being, everyone should be entitled to the same rights as everyone else, marriage being one of those.

Most of the Gay/Lesbian couples I know who have gotten a 'civil partnership' consider it a marriage, two of them even held it as a marriage ceremony. It frankly should be an option. Some people do prefer civil partnership for various reasons, but we shouldn't deny them the opportunity.

I actually talked about this with a friend of mine via email. He said that it seems to be more of a thing with money than anything.

Regardless, I think there's not much reason why gay marriage should be illegal at all. They're still human, and they're still in love. Just because it's disgusting to other people doesn't mean you should ruin it for them.

To put it in the words of most:
"Yes it should be legal. They deserve to be miserable like the rest of us."

This basically for anything and everything.

What do you mean more of a thing with money?

I can only assume this is about the stupid "Gay marriage is a deficit to the economy" arguments, where it does nothing but benefit the marriage industry and all those tied to it...

Although, if you meant something else, then do tell.

Had to dig around emails for it:

Oh no of course not oppress. But the argument that they're being oppressed is a little flawed. There's all of like two rights they actually want marriage for. Joint tax filing and something else I can't think of at the moment. So the idea of gay marriage is really just about money.

Yeah so if they were just allowed to file their taxes together and such they wouldn't be bugging anyone for marriage. Well I mean some would honestly want to be officially married but the whole essence of the huge movement is centered around money which is pathetic to say the least.

People shouldn't be excluded from monetary benefits purely because they're gay.

    Simple.

Which is precisely why he called the ordeal pathetic.

I have a gay brother so it's pretty obvious my opinion.
