Cipher just became absolutely amazing for me. Boros is also looking good.

Wow so many good cards
I've got to make some threads for a few of those. They look so awesome
The 1 drop Evolve makes me giddy. The defender Extort makes me giddy, the angel makes me giddy.

I think I quite admittedly gave myself the false hope for Angel of Despair. I'm not sure that Deathpact Angel is actually any worse and could be significantly better.

It's not really meh when it comes immediately back into play and they really do need multiple kill spells to ever get rid of it, to which you just play another since it costs 6 and not 7 which isn't too hard to hit right now at all.

My thoughts too. It keps your opponent on there toes and they need to answer it before you bring it back, cause then they have to waste even more spells to kill it if it comes back.
I really like the mana Bear. I can see it doing a lot. Turn 2 it into Lightning Mauler/Farseek/ anything else I cant remember right now.

I don't get why they made it so over costed too. 1RR or 2R would be enough in my opinion.
Also, that Cipher token generator is kinda overcosted, but for a good reason :<

If the Cipher token maker were any cheaper it'd be beyond insane in limited.

Tin Street Market would be an amazing pick in Limited if it were considerably cheaper. You can just loot for one mana. Look at Desolate Lighthouse.
If no-one comes up with a competitive Illusionist's Bracers deck, I will cry. And Murder Investigation is such a flavour home run.

That Investigation looks interesting, would you say it's good in limited?

Only if you draft in Boros, Naya or Selesnya colours. It's quite bad without using the big Gruul pumps. You could justify it if you had a few Evolve creatures, I guess.

Re: [MtG] Gatecrash Spoiler Cards: Day 1
I like that Battalion 1-Drop. Despite Battalion not being a great mechanic, it'll be very nice in my locals. Given how much I love R/W aggro.
Already I like this set more that RtR. The other stuff looks very good, the angel seems like a pain in my backside to deal with, and the Evolve 1-drop is terrfying,

Battalion seems like a good mechanic for Limited though. Extort not so much but still ok, Evolve very good, Bloodrush alright, Cipher f****** awesome. Since I have to worry about Limited for what clan I am, I'll be going Dimir as of now. Might change as more spoilers come out though.

The best Limited mechanic is Bloodrush. I doubt Dimir will get any particularly good Cipher commons and uncommons. Pretty much every Bloodrush creature is relevant in Limited.

Re: [MtG] Gatecrash Spoiler Cards: Day 1
I would assume Bracers was made at least partly to work with Evolve. I want a Fathom Mage with Bracers on my side. When we get our new spoilers, I'll see how Cipher does. We also need to see some Dimir creatures to see how they do with their new mechanic. Looking back, Bloodrush does seem good, but we need lower-costing creatures. We'll have dead hands for a while if this pattern sticks. Evolve is only relevant for a few turns, Battalion is good, but it's useless a early game, and Extort to me really doesn't do much until late game either. I'll probably go Gruul or Dimir.

I don't think Bracers works with Evolve. Evolve looks like a triggered ability, not an activated one. It's just a really cool splash rare, which works with plenty of cards in the block. Ideally, when Dragon's Maze comes out, you just want to draft it with every Izzet Staticaster, Mercurial Chemister and Lobber Crew you find.

Yeah, Bracers doesn't work with any of the mechanics.
Extort, Evolve, Battalion and Cipher are all triggered abilities and Bloodrush is activated from the hand anyway.

Re: [MtG] Gatecrash Spoiler Cards: Day 1
Since I'm probably going 2 days, I'll probably roll Boros the first and Dimir the second to see how it works out.
@ Chris about Deathpact Angel: It's pretty meh. 6 CMC for a 5/5 that spawns a token when it dies that can be kited in some fashion before it's used makes the card extremely flimsy. If it had a keyword beyond flying, it'd probably be close to, if not actually, mythic and be considered a viable body.
