I'm afraid that only after watching Fairy Tail you'll be able to understand the characters.
But you think this show is uninteresting, so you'll never know.
Those shallow descriptions do not do justice to characters.

Just so you know, they really were randomized. =o
You just won't see any Hayate characters until the third week.
Then no Nanohas until the second half.
And I'm not voting in the ones with Fairy Tail characters until they face each other because
why would I just because I seen the other anime and not that?

I only think it's uninteresting because I do not really like shows that are that long so much. None of them I watched I've liked as much as most of my other watched, which is a lot more, and it is bound to get repetitive, so I'm not interested in it. It may very well take me more than a year to watch, even if there is only 159 episodes so far.
